ashmei’s Ultimate Men’s Soft Shell running jacket was developed as the perfect choice for typical winter running and offers the ultimate performance and protection from the elements. It is – windproof, water resistant, fast wicking, warm and extremely breathable and has been ergonomically tailored with just the right features.

This jacket has been tailored to fit the runner’s profile. The entire back panel is made from an extremely breathable fast wicking stretch merino material, which allows a closer fitting jacket to eliminate excess fabric that adds extra weight and flaps in the wind. This merino stretch material was selected for its ability to wick moisture build up away from the body to keep the wearer dry and comfortable and maintain body temperature. It is placed in the back, side panels and underarms of the jacket, as these areas do not need to be windproof and allows the maximum breathability for the jacket.

The front panel and outer arms are made from performance softshell that is 100% windproof, water resistant and breathable. This softshell fabric has been engineered to our own specification to guarantee ultimate performance and maintain protection from the elements.

Combining the softshell and stretch merino fabrics within one jacket is a process called 360º Mapping and ensures the maximum breathability, comfort, stretch, warmth and fit precisely where needed most. When used in a running garment this technically advanced feature allows the runner to experience the very best materials required for each climate zone the human body produces when running.

The cut of the sleeves has been tailored for running with strategic seams along the length of the sleeve and at the elbow joint to add shape in relation to the typical runners 90º bent arm profile.  The cuff has also been engineered with winter weather in mind, scooping the cuff over the hand to protect them from the cold wind while an inner half mitt has been added that can be pulled down to wrap around your fingers if the conditions get worse. There are also thumb loops placed on the ends of the cuffs so you can pull the sleeve down further over your hand to give even more protection on really cold days.

We have pre shaped the front water resistant zip so that it finishes to one side of the neck. This adds additional comfort when the jacket is zipped up to the top by stopping it from pushing against the neck, as well as incorporating a fleece-lined chin guard. The lock down zip head also eliminates rattles and with the added bonded “Bite Grip” to the front edge of the collar so you can easily undo the zip with one hand.

There are two small storage pockets for essentials such as iPods with cable exits and bespoke cable routing which are placed at the centre back hem and on the right shoulder to eliminate the hassle of long earphone cables constantly pulling when stretched.

The scooped rear hem has a shock cord adjuster at either side of the jacket and features silicone gripper tape to prevent the jacket riding up. The jacket also features stitch free bonding with reflective detailing around the zips and on some external branding to make the runner more visible at night.
